Snow Day Comfort Food

Whenever I wake up and see that there is snow outside the child within me gets so ridiculously excited. Fresh fallen snow just makes everything look so beautiful.

We are not used to getting snow at all in Nashville; if we’re lucky we might get three or four good snowfalls throughout the winter season. Needless to say that when it comes to snow preparation we are not as prepared as the Northern cities so pretty much every thing shuts down. All I can say is you better get some bread and milk from the grocery store before they run out and park your car at the top of the driveway!
Since the city pretty much shuts down for a while there is only so much you can do – it basically turns into a rest & relaxation time for everyone. You work from home, watch movies, read books, go sledding and walking in the snow {obviously}, and of course, cook up some delicious comfort food! Here are a few of my favorite snow day comfort food recipes and a couple new ones I found on the internet that just look good!

Paula Deen Sausage Swirls// This is one of my favorite things to have for breakfast in the winter and they taste delicious with an egg over easy, plus they are super easy to make. It’s basically ground sausage wrapped up in a crescent roll.

Ina Garten’s Real Meatballs and Spaghetti// Does anyone else wish they were Ina Garten’s neighbor? Every recipe I have ever made that’s been by her has always turned out to look so beautiful and taste so delicious! Her Meatball and Spaghetti recipe is seriously out of this world; it’s one of those dishes you just want to savor.

Protein Pancake 3 Ways// I love Pancakes served everyway possible. And to ease you conscience these are supposed be healthy pancakes, so there’s no need to hold back with these!

Perfect Chili// Can you tell I’m a fan of the Food Network? For my mom it’s just not a snow day unless chili is cook in a crockpot. Over the years my family has kind of made their own chili recipe but the Pioneer Woman’s chili recipe is pretty close to the one my family makes!

Creamy Stovetop Macaroni and Cheese// For me mac & cheese is the ultimate comfort food. This recipe is completely delicious – a must try!

Ina Garten’s Chocolate Chunk Cookies// These cookies  are probably the best cookies you will ever taste and they are actually supper easy to make. They are the perfect combination of sweet and savory and look beautiful coming out of the oven!

  6. OMG, same ideas. I'm making soup today, enough for a house full of people, but it's just for me: therapy from the COLD FREEZE we're experiencing in Houston
