My Favorite 90's Rom-Coms

Is there any thing better than a 90’s rom-com movie? They are seriously the ultimate feel good movie; by the time the credits are rolling I am always filled with such a sense of hopefulness and happiness. 90s movie day is pretty much what rainy days are meant for.

I am more than guilty of getting under a blanket with a big bowl of popcorn on rainy days and just watching 90’s movies. Off topic, but how nice looking was men’s hair in the 90’s?! Anyhow, I always have the hardest time picking out my five favorite books, movies in general, and dress, but when it comes to 90’s rom-coms, easy as can be.
You’ve Got Mail// I include this movie in pretty much every favorite movie roundup I have every done. In a top Christmas movies draft I actually included it just because there is a very Holiday-ish scene, but decided to take it out before I published.

This was the first movie I saw where I actually appreciated the love story element. Of course, leave to the dynamic duo of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan to awaken the hopeless romantic side of a twelve year old.

Sleepless in Seattle// While we’re on the topic of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks… is there any 90’s movie more classic than Sleepless in Seattle. Confession: I cry at the end of this movie every single time when Sam and Annie finally meet at the top of the Empire State Building

Pretty Woman// Only in the 90’s was there enough rom-com magic and romance to make this story line seem romantic. But honestly how perfect were Vivian and Edward together? They really did rescue each other.

While You Were Sleeping// Okay if I could be best friends with anyone in Hollywood it would be Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Garner. I feel like Sandra Bullock and I would joke around all the time. Then, honestly, if I got to spend the day with Jennifer Garner and we just happened to run into Ina Garten, and we all cooked desert together, my life would pretty much be complete. Jennifer Garner didn’t really come on to the movie scene till about the early 2000’s, but it 13 Going on 30 was made in the 90’s it would totally be on this list.

Anyhow, oh my gosh While You Were Sleeping is basically the perfect rom-com. There are all the crazy family members that you can relate to and you are cheering for Lucy the whole time to have her happy ending.

Father of the Bride I & II// No joke, my dad looks like Chevy Chase {circa the Christmas Vacation era; my dad aged a lot better than Chevy Chase did, no offense Chevy} and acts like Steve Martin. Whenever I watch this movie, I feel like I am watching my own family, my mom is a total Nina Banks and my dad the George. I think that is part of the reason I love the movie so much, and the other reason is because it just always fills me with a sense of nostalgia and happiness.
