Favorite Valentine's Day Movies

I am such a fan of Rom-Com and romance movies. The meet-cutes, perfectly timed lines, and the happy endings just always leave me wanting more. Once Valentine’s starts to approach all I want to do is sit in front of a TV with a fire going in the background, a big bowl of pop corn, and get completely lost in a cheesy love story.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are pretty much the king and queen of 90’s rom-com. Not going to lie, I still kind of wish that I could pull off Meg Ryan’s hair style from You’ve Got Mail, but I like my hair long, and let’s face facts, Meg Ryan is pretty much the only person out there that can pull that look off.

Since it is the week of Valentine’s I have rounded up some of my favorite rom-coms and romance movies. Fair warning: some of them are a blast from the past and others are completely cheesy.
You’ve Got Mail//  This movie is probably my most favorite movie of all time. I once got a call from a person name Kathleen Kelly, and of course I know that Kathleen Kelly from the movie isn’t really, but it just made my day. I’m obviously a big fan of the movie… This movie just brings out the hopeless romantic in me, and I just can’t help but fall more in love with this movie each time I watch it. Kathleen and Joe and bookstore rivals who meet online in the over 30s chat room one night, and fall in love with each other, without knowing the true identity of the other

Sleepless in Seattle// See – I told you Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks were pretty much the kind and queen of 90’s rom-com. Everyone thinks of NYC as a city to find love and Sleepless in Seattle just adds to the magic of New York and the idea of falling in love there by making the Empire State building such an important part of the movie.

The Age of Adaline// Okay, was anyone else completely obsessed with Blake Lively’s makeup in this movie and completely enamored with the idea of being able to speak an endless amount of different languages, because I completely was. Black Lively’s character is from my favorite time period in history and due to an accident stops aging {anyone else wish they had this problem…}, and it takes her decades to find romance again in the most romantic way.

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days// Just realized earlier tonight that I was a senior or junior in high school when this movie came out – does this fact make any one else feel old? Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are one of the best onscreen couples out there – they just look so good together. Despite the fact that this movie has been around for a little while the storyline still seems relevant and it is such a classic.

When We First Met// This movie is so corny on so many levels and it is a Netflix original and involves a magical photo booth that takes you back in time, so needless to say I love it!

Kate & Leopold// Confession: In case you couldn’t tell, I am kind of a fan of Meg Ryan’s… Was anyone else completely on pins and needles over if Kate and Leopold were actually going to end up together? I guess the title kind of gives it away. Leopold somehow falls into a time travel hole where he ends up in modern times and meets Kate. Between his charm and their natural chemistry they inevitably fall for one another. Leopold must go back to the past and Kate has to decide if she will go with him.

Made of Honor// When I was in my late teens I had the biggest crush on Patrick Dimempsey and saw basically every movie he was in. This is such a classic story of the guy finally realizing that he is in love with his best friend who is about to get married.

While You Were Sleeping// Ok…ok… I am kind of a Sandra Bullock too. This movie makes me cry every single time I see it. Lucy who works a booth a train station falls in love with a man she’s never meet, and one day ends up saving him, pretends to be engaged to him, and ends up falling for the brother.

Enchanted// Probably not really a rom-com, but hey, I had to get a Disney movie in there somewhere. Giselle somehow falls right out of a storybook and into NYC where she end up meeting her real-life prince.

Sweet Home Alabama// I love Reese Witherspoon in this movie she is such a character that you’d want to grab a drink and gossip with. Melanie escapes a small town in Alabama when she’s just a teenager, leaving her first-love behind who she just happens to be married to, to make her way in NYC as a designer. Years later she returns home to tie up lose ends after she gets engaged, but some feelings just never quite go away.
