Puffed Out

{Via}
Get your puff on with a puffer vest! It honestly took me a little while to get into the whole vest thing {I think it had something to do with an unfortunate looking vest I wore with my school uniform in the seventh and eighth grade}. Fortunately by my freshmen year of college I was all about wearing a Vineyard Vines vest with my oxford shirts and jeans in the fall, I was able to get over my hatred of vests unscarred. I still prefer coats, jackets, trenches, and such but every now and then a fall day just calls for a puffer vest.

J. Crew seems to have the cutest patterns and most stylish puffer vests that I have come across at least. There was a herringbone puffer vest J. Crew had last year that I wish I had gotten but luckily J. Crew Factory has it this year! In the South you never know what the weather is going to be like; I remember when I was ten during the middle of January it was close to 80°F, a friend and I were running around in our summer clothes and two day later it snowed. Down here a vest is always a good thing to have in your wardrobe for a cold fall day or a warmer winter day, and besides they are fun to style!

If you are lacking a vest from your collection of outerwear I strongly suggest you invest in a good quality one this year. They are perfect to throw on over a sweater or a plaid shirt. Here are a few of my favorite puffer vests from J. Crew and the J. Crew Factory store.

  1. I've never heard it called a puffer vest before! In the UK we call them gillets or a waistcoat haha. They keep you so warm in the winter :) x

    1. I love those two terms! But yes a quilted vest definitely does the trick in the winter!

  2. To be honest I usually prefer a coat or jacket over a vest, too, but these cute patterns make me want to switch it up a little and wear vests more! I think the second vest you've featured is my favorite :)

  6. I completely agree. I really want to, but I just can't jump on the vest bandwagon. I feel like they wouldn't be nearly warm enough, and that my arms (and subsequently rest of me) would be freezing all day! But they look so darn cute with riding boots and a plaid shirt in the fall. Hmm, decisions, decisions.
