The Art of Blue and White

There is no other color combination I love more then blue and whiteand being able to decorate with them is the icing on the cake! Down in the South it is the next thing to impossible to walk into a house and not see a set of Blue Willow dishes, a blue or white room, vase, or the remnants of blue and white in an object or room. It’s a classic color that in my opinion will never go out of style!
When decorating a room with blue one of the most important things is picking the right color blue for the mood you want to create. Personally I prefer the lighter shades of blue, it creates the effect of making a room feel fresh, airy, and open.
Pay attention to scale, proportions, and shade, this will allow you to mix patterns, textures, and varying shades during the decorating process. Using plates as a decorating piece in the kitchen is one of my favorite touches to add.
You can never go wrong with a blue and white place setting. Sometimes everything matching can be a little over rated so try mixing blue and white pattern dishes to give the table setting a little spice.
