Lies and Other Acts of Love

With spring in full bloom and summer just around the corner, it is the perfect time of the year to head outside with a book in hand to and enjoy reading while soaking up some sun. Kristy Woodson Harvey’s new book, Lies and Other Acts of Love, truly is the perfect spring/summer read, or even better…the perfect beach read!

The matriarch of the White family, Lynn {a.k.a. Lovey} knows just how important of a role a little white lie can play when it comes to the love of a family. After raising five daughters and being married for 60 years Lovey has told a few well-placed white lies that has held her family together and will keep you wanting to turn the next page.

Lovely’s granddaughter, Annabelle, who is fresh out of college, married her love at first sight, a man she only knew three days before hand right after dumping her hedge fund manager fiancé. She is still young, honest, and has not quite learned just how significant of a role a little white lie can play. The walls of Annabelle’s life start to disintegrate, she starts to see that her family’s life is not as perfect as it really appears, and stumbles onto her grandmother’s biggest lie, which would affect all her beloved family members and not in a positive way. Annabelle must decide if it is better to keep it between her and her grandmother or if she should share it with the rest of the family.

The characters of Lies and Other Acts of Love are so relatable and the book is so detailed, it is easy to be transported into another world and feel like you are part of the White family. Harvey’s newbook is an engaging tale of love, family, loyalty, marriage, and lies. A must read book for the summer!
