Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)

I am not a big television watcher; there are maybe five shows that I really enjoy watching, but other than those few…honestly, TV is usually not that great. Off topic, but I have this theory that the TV and movie companies conspire together on the weekends so the viewer is forced to either go to the movies or rent a movie from a Redbox or On Demand. There is never a good movie on during the weekend except for sunny Saturday afternoons when you would much rather be outside. Now, to the point… The Mindy Project is one of the few shows that I actually enjoy watching, plus I love Mindy Kaling, the writer of show. She was a writer for The Office, acted on The Office, writes, produces, and acts in The Mindy Project, and on top of that has a pretty awesome Instagram, and writes books.

I will devour any biography, autobiography, memoir, etc. that is set in front of me. I always think it is interesting to read about others perspective, because of the insight, knowledge, and appreciation, for your own background that is gained. There is always something to take away from a non-fiction book that can be applied or relayed to your actual life or a lesson/experience you are able to relate. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? is hands down the funniest book I have read that falls under the biography/autobiography/memoir category.

When Mindy Kaling first appearance as Kelly on The Office it almost seemed like she just fell out of thin air and was an over night success story. Kalings book is entreating to say the least and will have you laughing at least every few pages. As entertaining as the book is the reader is allowed a glance at just how much work and perseverance went into Mindy Kaling finally making a break.

Mindy Kaling takes the reader on a journey of the different stages of life she has gone through; the child of immigrant professionals, an obedient “chubster”,  the loss and gain of friends in high school as she discovered who she is, a big fish in a small pond in college, and finally into the world of writing and comedy. She also offers advice on different topics, some of which are insightful.

IsEveryone Hanging Out Without Me? Is the perfect book to take to the pool, on a beach vacation, or just to read a few pages before you go to bed.
