Summer At Tiffany

Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart is one of theten books I included on my Summer Reading list I posted last week. I read this book a couple years ago when I was at the beach and I thought I would share a review of it because it is quit possibly the most perfect summer beach read.

A couple years ago I was obsessed with reading biographies and memoirs, I couldn’t get enough of them. Summer at Tiffany is a fabulously written memoir and I have to admit the tiffany blue cover and the title of the book caught my; in this case I judged the book by the {which you’re never supposed to do} and it luckily worked in my favor. It’s rare I read a book twice and I read this book twice in the same week.

In 1945 Marjorie Hart and her best friend Marty Garrett travel from Iowa all the way to New York City for the summer, hoping to find summer jobs in a New York department store. After being turned away from multiple department stores both Marjorie and Marty luck out and find jobs as pages at Tiffany & Co. becoming the first women to ever work on the sales floor at Tiffany. Hart does a great job of taking the reader back to the summer of 1945 when she attended dances, fell in love, went to Time Square, celebrate VJ Day, and of course the different people Marjorie while working at Tiffany & Co.

Summer at Tiffany is one of those books that you could easily sit down and read in a day. It is beautifully written and takes place during an exciting time period. I definitely highly recommend this book!
