Knock, Knock, Welcome In

As odd as this may sound I have always love the beauty and story a door holds; a door is like the first page of a book. There is such artistry that goes into designing a door, the craftsmanship, the woodwork, the overall appearance of a door, and which style house is it best suited for. Every house has a soul that the owners infuse into it, and if you look long enough at the façade of a house most seem to have a face, some even appear to be sad or happy. Since the front door is the first page of a story and the first up-close impression someone has of a house, you want to make a lovely impression! Here are a few of my favorite doors I have come across.

    1. I found the most beautiful red door last night, but I was afraid to include it in this post because it had copyright information at the bottom of it. I think red doors look so story bookish!

  10. I was thinking about that yesterday actually! A door tells a lot about the house you are about to enter. Even if it didn't have a design, it's always good to make your entry beautiful by adding a plant, decorating it, clean the outside, and have a nice entry mat. I really like all of these doors. My favorite is the very first one. Nice post.

  14. I strongly believe in having a 'statement door'. Ive awlays thought a red one would be great, but now Im thinking that dark green would also work well!

  18. Yes, dear Lauren, you are absolutely right and I agree to each of your words: the door is like the first page of a book. Of this cause we decided to change the color of our entrance door, which was first white, into red, because the white door was nearly invisible on the also white walls :) And now we are happy with the red door which fits to us and your kind of energy ;)

  20. Yes! I have always loved discovering unique doors when I'm traveling. I snapped a picture of this amazing cobalt blue door I came across walking in NYC. It was rounded at the top with a black curved handle. Gorgeous! I want to go back and find it again next time I'm there!
