Beauty Sleep

Lately I have not been sleeping well at all, partly because I have the worst bedtime routine ever right now that definitely needs to change. I’ve been on my computer and phone answering emails and such well after my night time shower, watching Netflix instead of reading {FYI, Super Girl is actually a super good show!}, and if the first two weren’t bad enough I’ve been eating chocolate here and there right before I go to bed and not working out as much as I usually do… Bad, I know. Luckily, it is always the right time to make a few healthy changes.

For todays post I thought I would share a few tips I use when I am on a good/healthy bed time routine and I would love to hear your bedtime tips and tricks in the comments!
Workout// working out has so many added benefits aside from the obvious one of helping you stay in shape. It always seems to make me a bit more mentally focused, happier, and be able to sleep better at the end of the day.

Drink plenty of water// Everybody has their vice and mine is coke… I am always falling on and off the wagon of drinking what I consider a healthy amount of coke a week {which is maybe 2-3 8oz bottles for me}. Caffeine always has the ability to make me so wound up and it always seems to kick in a few hours after the fact, just in time for bedtime. Water like working out has a ridiculous amount of benefits: great skin, more energy, clear mind, and a better nights sleep.

Baths// sometimes after a long day I will take a nice long bath with the lights dimmed and just space out and try to let go of everything that had happened during the day.

Facemasks//sometimes pampering yourself is one of the best things you can do to relax and short of a massage, what better way to pamper yourself than with a cooling facemask. Plus, your skin will look great in the morning.

Unplug// When I am being healthy and am on a great bedtime routine I put my laptop away and plug my phone in the charger before I hop in the shower. Looking at my phone, emails, and watching Netflix right before I go to bed is one of the worst things I do for myself, because I have the hardest time going to bed.

Read// I am convinced that I will never be able to read enough books. I have found that climbing into bed with a great book after a shower is the best and most relaxing way to end the day.

  1. I’m so with you - when I read before bed instead of looking at a screen it makes such a positive difference! The other truck I do is to make a warm cup of caffeine tea; it’s really relaxing and triggers my mind that it’s time to relax. Halle Wednesday! xAllie

  3. Thank you for all of these wonderful reminders! I definitely have to keep reminding myself to get more sleep, water, and unplugged time! It's challenging, but oh, so rewarding! In order to drink more water, I squeeze organic lemon in it..... then, it is refreshing and delicious! :)

As for sleep, I TRY not to be on any device about an hour or two before bedtime. (Yeah, it's hard!)

Hope you find your balance! Blessings, Net

  4. Unplug indeed. So much time is wasted browsing through phone or laptop in the bedroom. It's amazing how much quality sleep we can get if we put them aside earlier. Thanks for the tips dear.
