Favorite Historical Shows

I am a little bit of a history nerd to begin with - ever since Downton Abbey first came about {seriously, why did that series have to end?} I have been a completely obsessed with historical and time period shows. They have the ability to transport you to another time and place and on occasion provide you with a historical factoid {google of course to make sure it’s true}. Below are a few of my favorite historical shows that I am currently crushing on.

Victoria// If you have ever wonder where Queen Elizabeth gets her courage and forward thinking from it probably has something to do with the fact that she is related to Queen Victoria. I haven’t read up on Queen Victoria very much, but the show definitely portrays her as a trailblazer of her time and someone who was headstrong, didn’t back down, and had a vision.

The Crown//The Crown will only make you love Queen Elizabeth all the more. She looked adversity in the eye and dragged England into a new age the best she could.

War and Peace//War and Peace is a wonderful rendition of Tolstoy’s epic novel, War and Peace. This series brings to life all the wonderful characters and makes you appreciate the literary work all the more.

The Kennedys: After Camelot//Jackie Kennedy is one of my all time favorite icons. I’ve actually read a lot about her and love any show that has to do with her {minus Natalie Portman’s Jackie}. It is amazing all the all the tragedies she had to over come and how she always seemed to eventually come out the other side with dignity, grace, more wise, and the ability to transform herself but also staying true to the person she was at the core of it all.
