Healthy Habits

As of recently I have been trying to make an effort to incorporate healthy habits into my routine. Let’s face facts, in todays world it can be a bit of a challenge…it might be easier to get take out every single night, more tempting to order a hamburger off a menu rather than something healthy, stay up late to finish a project, find an excuse not to exercise, easy to forget to eat a meal, and put taking time for yourself on the back burner.

It is obviously tempting and easy to fall into an unhealthy lifestyle in this day and age. Below are a few healthy habits that will hopefully lead to a healthier lifestyle.

Take Time For YOU//I think the invention of the cell phone and all the social media outlets is truly a great way to stay in touch with old friend and be able to get in touch with someone reasonably fast. You are constantly connected. At the same time maybe it isn’t such a great thing to be constantly connected and feel the need to respond to something ASAP, have a misunderstanding through text, or go down the rabbit hole of watching endless videos on YouTube {I am definitely guilty of that one} along with your other family/friend/other obligations, it is easy to lose yourself in the mix of everyday life. Take some time to take a breath, pamper yourself, relax, and do indulge in something you really love to do.

Socialize// Making the time to socialize can be just as important as taking time for yourself. So make a point at least once a week or more to have dinner/drinks with friends or spend time with family.

Eat Breakfast//I am absolutely horrible at taking the time to eat breakfast. The last time I took the time to eat breakfast was Monday and today is Thursday… This is obviously a habit that is still a work in progress and ironically breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Eat breakfast gives you energy, jump-starts your metabolism, helps you to maintain a healthy body weight, along with a few other benefits.

Exercise// Back in October I got into the habit of working out on a regular basis and I am so glad I made the time to. Since I have been working out a few times a week I sleep better, have more energy, am more clear minded afterwards, and not to mention working out helps to get you in shape!

Drink Water// Starting at the end of February I stopped coke on a regular basis, and within about 2 weeks I could tell a difference. I have always been a big water drinker, but know since coke is not a regular in the equation I have been drinking much more water. Since I am pretty much just a water drinker now I can tell a major difference in my complexion – the dark circles under my eyes are gone and my skin tone is much more even.

Sleep// Getting a good amount of sleep can be hard to come by if you are not conscious of the time or if you don’t have a set time you start to get ready for bed. Sleep is everything. Without enough sleep you’re sluggish, don’t process or catch onto things as quickly, your metabolism slows down, and sleep plays a large roll in your mood and how you preform on a daily basis.

  2. I'm trying so hard to rehaul my habits as well. I keep a big pitcher of water at my desk at all time and I'm trying to eliminate sugar except for the occasional treat.
