To me a photo is a moment frozen in time; it’s a way to immortalize ourselves, tell a story, capture a memory. Everyone has a family history, a story to tell, everyone has the desire to live on even after they are gone. It is human nature to wonder who in your family do you look/act/sound like; families keep generations of other family members alive driven by this inborn human desire to know/relate to a relative. We keep people alive through stories, memories, and by sharing photos {all photos tell a story if you look closely enough}. As long as you keep someone’s story alive they are immortalized in a sense, they live on through the stories they created and lived through while they were here.
In the South, you can walk into
a Southern household and immediately spot a picture, that is obviously
generations old, and chances are it’s in a silver picture frame. Above is one
of the many decorative tables my mother has created over the years. The
pictures on the above table going clock wise, starting with the silver picture
frame {of course} are: a photo of my older sister when she was sixteen, my
sophomore high school picture, a picture of me before my senior prom, a photo
of my great-grandfather in his white Navy uniform pictured standing behind
Franklin D. Roosevelt, a photo of my grandfather as a young boy who went on to
be in the army for a few years before becoming the manager of an airport, a
photo of my great-great grandfather who was the Postmaster General of New York in his Civil War uniform, then lastly a photo of me at the age of
two. All these photos are a part of my family history that creates a link to
the past and present.
I love pictures of family
members {past and present} for the stories they tell, the past they represent,
and the future these individuals helped to create. One of my favorite ways to
display photographs is in silver picture frames. Silver frames are just so
elegant and timeless, plus a monogram on a silver picture frame looks fabulous!
Here are a few beautiful silver frames I have found! Click on the image to be

these beautiful frames!
Do you have a family member from the past or present who you relate to/admire/look/act/sound like?
