Guest Post :: Golden Rules Of Hair Care

This maybe by far the most vain comment I have ever made on this blog, but no matter how poorly my day is going, as long as I am having a reasonably good hair day I feel like all else can be saved. Needless to say that in my personal life good hair care is a priority for me. I know most people struggle with hair care during the cold weather months, but for me I struggle with mine during the warmer months of the year. I have naturally curly hair, so if I can, I only wash my hair every two to three day, because if I wash it everyday it tends to become a little on the dry side. However during the summer I find myself washing my hair every other day, if not everyday, and constantly fighting the frizz battle. Peter Minkoff has some great hair care tips, no matter what type of hair you have!

If you’re one of those girls who think of their hair as of their top priority when it comes to beauty – welcome to the club, you aren’t the only one here! We’ve come up with a list of five golden rules of good hair care, so keep on reading to learn more about this topic. Just check them out and get down to business right away!

Stick To Your Trusty Hair Care Products…

Even though some girls love to switch their hair care products once in a few weeks, we must say that this actually isn’t the best way to go. And why is that? Well, it’s because your hair needs time to get used to a certain product. If you tend to use a bunch of different shampoos and conditioners, how can you know which product is good for your hair and which one isn’t? Well, you can’t, which is why you should stick to your hair care favorites. This is the only way to establish a good routine and figure out what works for your hair and what doesn’t!

… But Don’t Be Afraid To Rely On Home Remedies

On the other hand, experimenting with home remedies is always a good idea. This is particularly true for natural or organic ingredients that can’t harm your hair even if you make a tiny mistake. For example, a homemade fermented rice shampoo is a great choice if you want your hair to be super smooth, dandruff-free, and soft to touch. This home remedy is rich in minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants, which makes it more than perfect for every hair type. There is also coconut oil that can condition your hair, stimulate its growth, and nourish the scalp. Possibilities are truly countless, so give some of them a fair shot and you’ll see what we were talking about!

Take Proper Care Of Your Hair Extensions, Too

If you’re one of those gals who love rocking hair extensions for added length and volume, you must know that your little helpers need extra love and care, too. It doesn’t really matter which ones you prefer – top-quality Russian virgin hair, synthetic extensions, or the combination of the two – you need to brush them regularly to prevent tangling. Also, make sure to always store them in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Your hair extensions need to be completely dry before storing if you want to prevent mold and other bacteria from growing. Don’t forget that and your extensions will stay intact for years!

Never Skip Heat Protectant When Using Hot Styling Tools

The majority of girls with straight hair would love to rock curls, whereas ladies with curly hair would die for smooth, super straight tresses. Even though it sounds a bit ridiculous, this is millions of girls’ reality, which is why they tend to reach for hot styling tools. However, if these are a part of your everyday routine, be sure to use a heat protectant before anything else. This product works similarly to sunscreen – it creates a protective barrier on your hair and prevents heat damage. The best thing is that the majority of these work on both dry and damp hair. Give them a try and keep your tresses healthy and gorgeous!

Adjust Your Hair Care Routine To Your Current Hair Color

The last golden rule of good hair care says that your hair care routine should always be adjusted to your current hair color. Yes, we know that this won’t make too much sense if you didn’t change your hair color often in the past. However, many ladies often make a mistake of sticking to the same products when they drastically change their hair color. For example, products you were using while you were rocking fiery red probably won’t be the best choice once you switch to platinum blonde. On the other hand, natural blondes also have to find an appropriate hair care routine – even if their hair has never been chemically treated. Bear this in mind and you’ll find the best solution for your hair color!

Even though it often seems extremely challenging, taking proper care of your hair doesn’t have to be as tricky and intimidating as you probably thought. All you have to do is to get to know your own hair in the first place, as that’s the only way to establish an appropriate routine. Once that’s done, just stick to our tips and you’ll do a phenomenal job, without a shadow of a doubt!
