I have
completely fallen out of my routine. I usually have everything down to a
science, but every year when summer comes around, poof, the routine seems to
slowly make it’s way to the sideline… I start usually start off the summer
strong but before you know if I have fully given into afternoon lunches,
mid-day walks with friends, shopping trips, and family lunches. I don’t know
what it is about summer, but it’s almost like your inner child comes out a
little bit and longs for those days of summer freedom.
Unfortunately,
whenever I start to get behind on things I am not that great at catching up on
them. Once I start to feel overwhelmed and like I have a lot of emails to sort
through, articles to write, and things to check off of my to-do list, I do the
worst thing anyone can possibly do…I put it off till tomorrow {so Scarlett
O’Hara of me I know} and get sucked into Netflixs at night. Once you venture
into the land of Netflix it is just a dark hole down…
I have
found that the trick to getting back into the swing of things isn’t diving back
into everything at once, but start out with two or three things, and than add
from there – it’s basically the art of juggling.

Workout//
working out is always the first thing I add back into my routine; it makes such
a difference not only physically but mentally. It’s honestly a little something
that has a lasting impact on the rest of your day.
Take A
Deep Breath// personally, sometimes I can get a little ahead of myself and find
all the task ahead a little daunting, so when I start to feel this way I just
take a deep breath, clear my mind, and give myself a mental pep talk
Sleep//
As you probably would have guessed…since I fall into the trap that is Netflix
when I am out of my routine that also means I stay up later than I should.
Honestly, getting 8 hours of sleep is a complete game changer.
Commit
myself// Before I even start the day I set a minimum amount of time that I have
to spend on something so I will sure to at least put a dent in the task at hand
Declutter
Your Digital Life// When I have a lot of things to do and emails to catch up
one I delete apps that are distracting and unnecessary off my phone. It truly
is amazing how much time I can waste mindlessly doing something on my phone.
Read// I
have found that I get a better night’s rest when I turn put my phone away an
hour before I go to bed, and just read instead. After all, it’s the small
things that make a big difference.
