All The Missing Girls

For the longest time I have been searching for a book that is just the right amount of a suspenseful mystery that is tied up with a nice bow at the end of the story, and All The Missing Girls, by Megan Miranda is just that book. I haven’t read and of Megan Miranda’s other books yet, but I cannot wait to get my hands on her next thriller, The Perfect Stranger. Apparently Miranda is an established young adult author and All The Girls Missing was her first book for adults she has written, and she did a pretty outstanding job.

Nicolette Farrell has spent years trying to put distance between herself and her hometown of Cooley Ridge, NC, drop her accent, and acclimate to living in a large city, getting engaged, and being successful in her profession. It has been 10 years since Nicolette first left her small rural hometown after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared without a trace. Nicolette has planned to come back to Cooley Ridge for the summer to tie up lose ends, care for her ailing father, and fix her childhood home up so she and her brother will be a to sell it. After being back for a few day Nic is surrounded by drama that reawakens Corinne’s case and reopens old wounds.

The 10-year-old investigation focused on Nic, her brother Daniel, boyfriend Tyler, and Corinne’s boyfriend Jackson. Nic was the only one out of the four who was able to make it out of Cooley Ridge; Daniel and his wife are expecting a baby, Jackson owns a bar, and Tyler has taken over his father’s construction company and is dating Nic’s younger neighbor, Annaleise Carter, who acted as the group’s alibi years earlier. Nic is back only a few days before Annaleise goes missing.

The story of Annaleise’s disappearance is told backwards starting on day 15 and ending on day 1. Nic works to unravel the truth about Annaleise’s disappearance, which in turn reveal shocking truths about her friends, family, and what really happened to Corinne the night she went missing.

All The Missing Girls, by Megan Miranda will hold your attention to the point where you find yourself saying ‘just one more chapter’ till you have eventually read the entire book. A perfect Memorial Day Weekend and summer read!
