A Spoonful Of Sugar

Not ashamed at all to admit that I bought A Spoonful of Sugar, by Amanda Orr, based solely on the fact that it’s cover is not only blue, but pretty darn cute; it also doesn’t hurt that it’s titled ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ – a reference to Mary Poppins, my favorite childhood movie!

I haven’t had a lot of free time at night to spend a decent amount of time reading so it has definitely been awhile since I have consistently done book reviews. So since this is the second week in a row that a book review has gone up on the blog I am channeling my inner Elle Woods and giving myself a few snaps.

Anna Moore, a Seattle Supermom of three with a thriving career in advertising, a secure marriage to a bit of a techy nerdy gaming creator, feels like she has it all, that is until she returns to work after an extended maternity leave. Upon returning to work to reassume her role as creative director at her advertising agency she discovers that someone has been appointed to take charge of her job during her absence and that she has been put on the ‘mommy track’ and to top it all off Anna finds out that the health department has shut down her children’s daycare.

Slowly losing her grip on the situation Anna searches for a nanny and in swoops Maria, a seemingly experienced nanny, who enables Anna to go win her job back. Anna quickly becomes so consumed with work that Maria’s well-meaning antics reach a disastrous tipping point. Soon every aspect of Anna’s life is going horribly wrong in the most humorous of fashion.

Again, I purchased  A Spoonful of Sugar, by Amanda Orr, based on solely on the cover. Needless to say I didn’t read the summary of the book, but luckily it turned out to be a good read! I found A Spoonful of Sugar to be a delightful read and the humor was of the situation was very visible. However, I’m not a parent, but for those of you out there that are I feel like you would find the book to be more humorous and relatable than I did. That said, I enjoyed the book, and think it would make for a great Sunday afternoon read.
