Adjusting To The Time Change

ADJUSTING TO THE TIME CHANGE
If I had to pick a time stay on I would definitely choose spring forward over fall back, and by the way why can’t we just stay on one time? On the plus side the current time change equals a longer day, and a more relaxing morning since it takes a little while longer for the sun to come up. Normally I can take the time change with no effects what so ever, however, this year I am having the hardest time adjust and have honestly been a tad bit tired this week. So for todays post I thought I would share a few helpful tips to better help you adjust to the new time, but at least we have those longer days now!

Night Time Ritual// Even though the clock may say 10 o’clock this week our bodies are still processing it as 9 o’clock. Make a habit of slowing your body down, taking a nice warm shower, read a book, and avoid any screen time close to bedtime.

No Long Naps// The first week that we are adjusting to a time change I think that it is fair to say that we are all pretty tempted to take a late afternoon nap. Unfortunately long naps could in turn make it harder to go to bed and therefore take longer to adjust to the time change

Workout// Exercise early in the day. Exercising naturally releases chemicals in the brain that improve mood, thoughts, and energy level. Avoid working out late in the day, as it might affect your quality of sleep

Limit Caffeine and Alcohol// both caffeine and alcohol interfere with your sleep cycle. If you are having trouble sleeping due to the new time avoid these items for a few nights and see if it make a difference

Snacks// When we are on the tired side we tend to snack more. Prepare a healthy snack {i.e. veggies, fruit, nuts, yogurt, etc.} to help energize you versus a sugary snack that will cause you to crash a little later on in the day

Drink Plenty of Water// Staying hydrated when tired is key to having a little extra energy, improves your thought process, and it just makes you feel better all around, plus, it’s good for your skin {added bonus}

  1. I am having a hard time adjusting to the time change, too! But I would rather have bright afternoons than bright mornings so I am happy we have sprung forward!

  2. I had the hardest time adjusting to the time this week! I'm usually an early riser, but I overslept twice! I wish we'd just stick with a time. I do appreciate the sunnier evenings though.
