With each
passing year the earlier I seem to wake up, and I’m not entirely sure I like
it…who would have thought that the day would actually come where I wake up
before my alarm even goes off. Fortunately, there are some advantages to start
the day 30 minutes or an hour before you planed to, like more time for one.
There was
once a time where I would repeatedly hit the snooze button {I’m sure this old
habit was extremely annoying to my college roommate… sorry Katie, a few years
late…}, and have around 15 – 30 minutes to throw myself together. Needless to
say aside from the throw myself together tactic I basically had no morning
routine at all up until a few years ago. One thing I have noticed since falling
into the habit of actually having a morning routine is that it constantly
evolves according to the time of year and all the other factors going on in
life. So, for today’s post I thought it would be fun to share my current
morning spring routine.
Read// If
I wake up way too early and can’t go back to sleep I usually start the day with
a little light reading. I figure that if you have a chance to start the day off
on a slightly more relaxing than usually and delay my constant daily phone use
and the stress that comes with it sometimes, why not take it?
Check
Email and Social Media// I usually stay in bed for a few minutes scroll through
my Instagram and Facebook newsfeed first, move on to emails and answer the ones
that need attention right away, and if I have time I check Pinterest and
Twitter too
Breakfast//
I’m not ashamed to admit that I am one of ‘those people’ that can get a little
hangry in the morning… So, I usually jump start my day with either a bowl of
oatmeal or frost mini-wheats before I workout
Workout//
I really try to make a point to workout at least three times a week, even if it
is just YouTube exercise video I can do at home. There are so many positive
benefits that go hand-in-hand with working out: thinking process, outlook,
energy level – the fact that working out keeps you in shape is just the bonus
on top of the cake!
Shower//
under the right circumstances showers have the ability to make you feel like a
brand new person and put in the mind set to conquer the day!
Wakeup To
Makeup!// I know there are people out there that absolutely hate the makeup
process – I am not one of those people. I don’t have a lengthy makeup routine
and it is pretty simple, but I find there is something oddly relaxing about the
process
Hair//
Hair is my least favorite part of my morning routine. Don’t get me wrong I love
my hair and how it looks, but I hate how long it takes to dry. I have naturally
curly hair and you either have to chance it and let air dry or style it
yourself – if you are a fellow curly hair person I am sure you know which one I
opt for…the time consuming option.
Eat Fruit
and Conquer the Day// I kind of break my breakfast up into two parts; the
before workout portion and the after workout portion. After finishing a cup of
fruit I am ready to take one the day, come what may.
I wish that I could get up before my alarm! I seem to have to just drag myself out of bed every single morning!
