Beach parties or really any beach/pool/lake party can be a
little tricky to dress for at times. Just because Labor Day has come and gone
doesn’t mean that beach parties are a thing of the past – honestly, is there
anything better than a bonfire on the beach as the fall approaches. I am so
thrilled to have Peter Minkoff guest post on the blog today with some wonderful
tips on how to dress Beach Party Chic!
Whenever there is a beach party in question, with or without a
dress code, we all know what we are going to show up in – gorgeous,
eye-catching, daring cuts and patterns that will sure make for an unforgettable
experience! And honestly, when if not in summer, will you let yourself show
some skin without it looking tacky or being revealing!
However, attending a beach party doesn’t mean looking ridiculous
and wearing anything and everything just because the summer style is most
forgiving of all others. You need to keep your sense of style in check and
pride on your best beach ready combinations!
Assuming you’ll be attending a glam party (let’s be real, if it
was just a random beach gathering, you’d throw on your swimsuit and your wrap
and hit the beach, no pressure, right?), you need to follow some dos and don’ts
that come with the drill.
Here is some advice that will never fail your beach party dress
code:
1.
Forget about heels – I get it, you want to look slim and tall
and fabulous, but a beach party isn’t the time to pull out the heels! Unless
you are attending a glamorous by-the-pool party with everyone looking like they’re
on their way to Cannes festival, heels should be the last thing you’ll put on
your feet. Instead, opt for flats – gladiator sandals, strappy sandals,
ballerina shoes or any other gorgeous flats will be okay. There are now plenty
designs you can opt for, so don’t restrain yourself from browsing!
2.
Say NO to makeup – Well, not completely but forget about all the
heavy foundations, contouring, 15 types of blushes, 17 types of powders, 19
types of eye make-up… Beach party is the time when you let your bronze, tanned
skin breathe! Just a little bit of bronzer on your gorgeous cheek bones and
collar bones, a lip gloss in natural shade and mascara are enough for you to
look absolutely spectacular! With your hair in a messy ponytail/bun
or your lock flowing wild over your shoulders, you’ll definitely be the talk of
the party.
As for hair… don’t flatten your hair with iron or
spend hours blow drying it. Let it dry naturally to get that volume that’s
perfect for the summer! Keep it messy – it will reflect the ease of the season!
3.
No tight clothes – Summertime isn’t the time in the year to wear
curve-hugging, tight clothes! First, because it’s too hot, secondly ‘cos summertime is when you enjoy the
beauty of natural, flowy materials on your skin and let your body move freely!
4.
Get it light – If the party you are attending is a semi-casual
gathering in a sense that you all may take a dip after a few glasses of
champagne, wearing a swimsuit under your clothes is the thing to do! This is
the perfect time to use your latest swimwear sale
purchased items and upgrade them with a chic wrap dress, gorgeous gladiator
knee sandals and awesome jewelry!
Plus, if you’ve got a swimsuit in an interesting color like gold,
silver, pink or any other color that will look amazing on your olive skin, the
impression you’ll leave will be even stronger. Add some golden jewelry to the
mix and you are good to go!
