Where She Went

Yes, it’s time for another book review, the third this month – don’t say I didn’t warn you via Instagram that there might be a lot of review coming to the blog this month. Another book I read while I was at the beach {wishing I was there right now} is Where She Went by Gayle Forman. Where She Went is the perfect sequel to If I Stay; if you are looking for a good quick read then this just might be a book for you to look into.

Where She Went picks up three years later after the conclusion of If I Stay. Where She Went continues the soulful love story of Mia and Adam, two people who parted ways find their way back to each other through music. Mia made the decision to stay but choose to be without Adam. During their time apart Adam’s music career takes off in a way he could once only dream about. His album, borne from the heartache and pain he felt over losing the relationship he had with Mia catapulted him into rock star status. Although Adam has achieved more than he has ever dreamed of somewhere along the way he lost his joy of playing music, causing him to re-evaluate his life.

Mia accepts a scholarship to Juilliard, which takes her musical abilities to the next level. She has become a top-rated cellist, playing in some of the finest venues in the world. One faithful night both Mia and Adam are in New York and are bought together by chance. Adam attends Mia’s concert, thinking that he will go unseen, but to his surprise is invited backstage by Mia after the concert. They spend the night exploring the New York City, the place that has become Mia’s home, revisit the past and open themselves up to the possibility of the future.

I am without a doubt a hopeless romantic; I am always secretly hoping for the grand gesture to come at the end or an unforgettable love story to come to a perfect conclusion. Where She Went is a sequel that delivers and has an equally strong story line as the first book, If I Stay. This is the perfect book to read over a cold weekend next to a fire or while listening to the waves on a beach.
