The first day of the Lilly
Pulitzer Endless Summer Sale was a blast! Right when the Lilly team got the
website up and running I could not wait to see what was on sale; I was overwhelmed
by all the wonderful choices and great deals, what a sale! I have to confess I
did treat myself to a couple things, who could resist, I also ordered a few
thing for my mom and sister, and did some early gift shopping {always great to
get out of the way}. The best part about this sale is that it last till Tuesday,
August 21, so you still have time to shop and enjoy the sale! Here are a few of
my favorite sale items. Click on the name of the item, located beneath the image, for the link. Happy Shopping!

Tips For Living With A Roommate
To be perfectly honest…living
with a roommate can go either one of two ways: they will either be a really
great roommate or they will be a not so great roommate, and I have experienced
both. My first experience with a roommate was my freshman year of college, she
was a lot of fun and super nice, but she was a little on the messy side and
would frequently pull all nighters. I like to be super organized, have a clean
room, I usually go to bed somewhere between 11pm and 1am but I like the room to
be pitch dark when I go to sleep, so obviously my first roommate wasn’t a good match. I took
a chance going into my sophomore year and went potluck, luckily it turned out
to be a great match, we were roommates for a couple years! Then my last
year of college I somehow lucked out and had a double to myself, which was
pretty awesome! However, I had to make sure I didn’t turn into a hermit; I
planed lunches, dinner, and other social things ahead of time, spent more time
in the student center, and so on. So whether you are in college or live in an
apartment here are some helpful tips for living with a roommate.
1. Define “clean” and make a chore chart: Distribute dorm
room/apartment cleaning {trash duty, vacuuming, dusting, dishes, etc} and write
them down on a sheet of paper then hang up the chore chart where it is visible.
Talk to your roommate(s) about which chores you and them don’t mind doing and trying
to delegate them that accordingly.
2. Set Boundaries: The first day you meet your new roommate sit
down and have a conversation about each others background, likes and dislikes,
get to know each other. Set up an agreement for cleaning and other
responsibilities, set personal boundaries. Check in with each other every now
and then to see how things are going and if anything needs to change
3. Conflict Resolution: Go ahead and address the little problems
before they turn into a bigger issue. When address an issue do so in away where
it is civil and does not put the other person on the defense and create an
momentarily awkward living situation. It is always easier address an issue when
it is still small.
4. Start with a clean slate: Everyone in the shared living space is
on an equal level and gets an equal say in what goes on and how things should
be run. Create a good situation from the start.
Gallery Wall Inspiration
A few years ago when the gallery
wall first started to become popular I wasn’t sure if I liked the design trend,
but once I saw some beautifully done gallery walls I fell in love with the
concept. I have to say, I adore the above gallery wall, a picture from Kate
Spade’s apartment. It seems that the trick to a gallery wall is to create a natural
flow {having a theme, the same color frame for all the pictures, or just a very
well planned gallery wall layout, etc.} there are a good amount of ways to
create a beautiful gallery wall. I like how a gallery wall can totally
transform the room, add an artistic element, and supposedly gallery walls have
a therapeutic effect that is supposed to relax and comfort you.
I found this gallery
wall from This is Glamorous blog. The gold frames used on this gallery wall for
each pictures gives an overall cohesive effect. Before placing pictures on the
wall, first you might want to lay out your framed work on the floor and try out
a few designs, to correctly identify the right design for the wall and you.
When hanging pictures
keep in mind that smaller frames have more impact when hung together but larger
frames can stand on its own. Eye movement is important when it comes to a
gallery wall. You don’t want your eye to stop in one area of the gallery wall,
but to keep flowing across.
Changing your
favorite photograph from color to black and white will create an interesting
gallery effect.
Choose
pictures you love. Make sure you don’t get caught up in trying to make it look
like someone else’s’ gallery wall; this wall should reflect your taste and
interest. You can include original are, art prints, mix up art from the low and
high price range, family photos, and so on.

Simply Audrey
The other day when I was playing
around on YouTube I came across the Audrey Hepburn Galaxey Chocolate Commercial,
which I absolutely loved! Audrey Hepburn with her elegance and simplistic
everyday style has remained a style icon for the past few decades. Even in
today’s fashion industry it is easy to spot an outfit that is reminiscent of
something Audrey Hepburn would have worn; from ballet flats, to pixie pants, to
dresses cinched at the waist, a touch of Audrey is easy to spot. Below is the
Galaxy Chocolate commercial that inspired this post followed by a very classic
Audrey styled outfit that it so timeless it is still in-style! Enjoy!

The Statement Necklace
The statement necklace is a
powerful accessory; it can add a glamorous touch to any simple outfit and take
it to the next level! Since a statement necklace is such a powerful piece of jewelry ideally you want to keep the rest of your outfit simple, don’t over do it. Statement
necklaces are great to wear with the ever-timeless little black dress, a simple
tee, or an outfit the needs a little extra pop to make it look special. If you
are planning on wearing other accessories with a statement necklace post
earrings and low-key bracelets are just the things! Make a statement this fall
with a statement necklace! Here are a few of my favorite picks, click on the
name of the necklace located at the bottom of the picture for the link.

Beauty Sleep
I don’t know about you, but I
have had more restless nights trying to fall asleep than I care to remember. I
am sure all of you have experienced being in bed, tired from a busy and just
ready to go sleep, the only problem is you just can’t stop thinking long enough
to actually fall asleep. It always amazes how fast time passes I’m trying to
fall asleep, it’s 10 o’clock then the next thing you know it’s midnight. To
avoid those restless, sleepless nights here are a few tips and remedies to help
you on your way to some fabulous beauty sleep!
1.
Create a relaxing bedtime
routine: keep noise down, have a cool, dark bedroom, and of course a
comfortable bed.
2.
Read a book: Make sure you pick
a book that isn’t exactly a page turned, you don’t want to end up going to bed
late or staying up all night reading a book you just couldn’t put down. Pick a
book that goes at a slower pace that will help you unwind.
3.
Drink a cup of chamomile or
other relaxing teas: Chamomile is a healing herb that activates the back of the
brain that tells your body it’s time to go to sleep.
4.
Do not eat right before you go
to bed: eat an hour or two before you’re planning on heading to bed.
5.
Take a hot shower or bath: The
hot water helps the body to relax by reliving tense muscles.
6.
Dream Water: This drink contains
anxiety reducing and sleep inducing ingredients. And yes, I included on the
list because it is called dream water, how could I leave dream water off the
beauty sleep list? In all seriousness Dream Water is supposed to work very
well.
7.
Dream Silk Comfort Cream: A
lavender scented cream; the smell of lavender has a relaxing effect leading to
some peaceful sleep.
8.
White Noise: This helps block
distractions, making it easier to fall asleep
9.
Avoid Bedtime Exercise: Exercise
before bed makes your body warm, making it harder to go to sleep
10.
Sleep Journal: Keep yourself on
a great sleep cycle by logging in your sleep journal what you eat before bed
and in the morning, how you slept, what you did before bed, etc. This will you
discover the tips and remedies that work best for you to have a wonderful
night’s sleep.
“Wynken and Blynken
are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little
head,
And the wooden shoe
that sailed the skies
Is a wee one’s
trundle-bed;
So shut your eyes
while Mother sings
Of wonderful sights
that be,
And you shall see the
beautiful things
As you rock in the
misty sea
Where the old shoe
rocked the fishermen three:-
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.”
