Favorite Christmas Movies

The holiday season is without a doubt a season of tradition. For me it honestly doesn’t even feel like the holidays without certain activities, decorations, classic holiday food, and of course, those classic Christmas movies.

Confession: I watch Christmas movies even when it isn’t the holiday season… I just love how they are all such feel good movies and can always lift my spirits after a long day. I have been obsessively watching Christmas movies since the day after Halloween. Even if it is just for background noise, I still love hearing the movie scores and the catching classic lines from each movie. When I am actually able to sit down and watch some of my favorite movies all the way through, it feels like a warm blanket of memories has been draped over my shoulders.

If you are in need of a bit of Christmas Spirit, here are some of my favorite Christmas movies!

White Christmas// Full disclosure, between November and the first few weeks of January I watch White Christmas at least once a week. Honestly, is it even the Christmas season without Bing Crosby singing ‘White Christmas’…

The Family Stone// I know most would consider this a seasonal movie, but I watch it all year round. I just love the cast of this movie, the story line, and the characters. It’s fantastic

It’s A Wonderful Life// My family has two traditions on Christmas Eve 1) Read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and 2) Watch ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’. I love the overarching message of the movie and I am not ashamed to admit that Jimmy Stewart is my ultimate movie star crush.

Elf// I remember the first time I saw this movie, and I remember thinking when the open scene focused in on Papa Elf, I knew right away that it was going to be a movie I would love for years to come.

Home Alone// I think I was five when this movie came out, and I still remember going to the movies, my dad completely dreading sitting through this movie, and now, years later, my entire family still loves this movie. It has become a ‘classic’ Christmas movie for good reason!

Miracle on 34th Street// I know some may have different opinions about the statement I am about to make, but I much prefer the 1990’s remake over the original, even though they are both fantastic! This movie is basically the ultimate Christmas classic

Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation// My dad hates when anyone in my family says this, but when he was younger, he looked a little like Chevy Chase, especially when he wore his plaid shirts, vest, and glasses. I feel like one of the main reasons this movie is so funny is because it is relatable in many ways.

The Polar Express// This movie is just the embodiment of Christmas magic! The animation is incredible and the music is just next level.
