Enchantment

Lately I have been into reading biographies and autobiographies about people who lived between the 1920s-1960s, mainly because that is my favorite time period in American history. Audrey Hepburn was such an iconic person back in her day and remains one even till this day. I love watching her movies and learning more about her life. She overcame so much growing up and always seemed to have others well being in mind.

Audrey Hepburn ran into bumps along the way – growing up during a time of war and starvation, being told she was too tall to be a ballerina, and later her persistence to break into an acting career. Audrey Hepburn is a flawless fashion icon, but also someone to look to as an example to see how far a positive attitude, hard work, and perseverance will take you in life.

Enchantmentby Donald Spoto, traces Audrey Hepburn’s rise to stardom from her childhood in Nazi-controlled Holland during World War II all the way to Award-winning career. Spoto is able to portray to his reader the type of person Hepburn was off the screen – a very deep person, who craved love and affection, and was able to give back on a meaningful emotional level. He gives insight into her relationships with her two husbands, children, work relationships, and the relationship she had with her many animals.

Enchantment is written in an entering, funny, yet moving way. It is an unforgettable biography about an unforgettable woman. A book a highly recommend. By the end of this biography you will have fallen in love with Audrey Hepburn all over again.
