Biscuit Love

A restaurant that includes a biscuit element in almost every item on the menu is pretty much love at first bite. Biscuit Love started off as a food truck in 2012 (why is that food truck food is so delicious…) and recently opened up an adorable cozy restaurant located in the gulch.

A few weekends ago I had brunch at Biscuit Love  and it is my new favorite brunch/lunch spot. I knew was going to love this place when I walked in and the décor was light blue and cream paint, and Nashville lite up on the wall in twinkle lights – a very retro vibe to the atmosphere.
I have never been a fan of donuts (crazy, I know), but bonuts…I can get down with bonuts (pictured above). I honestly would not have picked them off the menu if a friend didn’t recommend them beforehand. Let’s face it…it is hard to go wrong when friend biscuit dough, lemon mascarpone, and blueberry compote are involved. The combination of the three is just a match made in haven, however, in my opinion the blueberry compote element, in my opinion, is what makes the whole dish out of this world delicious!
For  brunch I had one of Biscuit Love’s best-known dishes – the Easy Nasty. East Nasty is a biscuit with fried chicken, age cheddar, and sausage gravy. I will admit one of my week spots, like any other good southern, is fried chicken. This dish felt like such a southern classic with a modern twist on it. The sausage gravy really played a part in tying the dish together and the chicken was perfectly fried – crisp on the outside and still juicy on the inside…on of the worst things is biting into a piece of dried friend chicken… Biscuit Love definitely nailed this dish!
If you ever find yourself in Nashville or are from Nashville I would highly recommend venturing down to the Gulch to have breakfast or lunch at Biscuit. The chicken is perfectly juicy and crisp, the biscuits taste like something that came out of your great-grandmother’s kitchen, and besides, where else can you find some delicious bonuts.
