In the world today it is so easy to get lost in work and other
obligations since we are always so connected to our email, texts, social media
etc. Peter Minkoff has written a fabulous guest post for today – sharing a few
ideas how to reward your self and stay motivated!
Life is one big mosaic consisted of small pieces which keep the
balance. If just one tiny piece isn’t where it supposed to be, everything feels
wrong. Enjoying in the small joys life can offer is actually the glue that
keeps it all together.
Rewarding yourself, from time to time, with things that make you
happy, is a great way to be more efficient at work and with home chores and to
deal with daily challenges that are both time and energy demanding. How will
you reward yourself depends on your lifestyle, wishes and mood in the given
time. We’ll propose some options.
Movie (or Binge
Watching) Night
You’ve worked so hard and you deserve at least one night off.
There is no better way to spend it, than to visit movies with your friend or
alone and see the latest hit. Or, if you prefer having relaxing time between
your own four walls and watch “Gone with the wind” one more time, why not? And
like Scarlet, you should “never be hungry again”, and provide yourself a bowl
of chocolate ice-cream, bottle of wine or/and popcorns.
If you want to invest more than just two hours, binge watching
“Gray’s Anatomy” or “Game of Thrones” if that’s your cup of tea, is
a good idea.
Dinner at Fancy
Restaurant
Call your best friend and make a reservation in that French or
Italian restaurant people wait for weeks to get a table in. Maybe it will be a
little more expensive, but it’s a treat that you can afford
at least once in two or three months. A glass of wine, a plate of duck in an
orange juice and a chocolate soufflé with raspberries will be enough to keep
you happy for the next few weeks.
If you don’t like those fancy restaurants, you can still treat
yourself with some meal in urban interesting places.
Nourish Yourself
A woman is happy when a woman feels beautiful. It’s that simple.
One beauty day occasionally, will do wonders for your mood, but some time spent
in the gym with your bestie will give you both a wonderful and lasting
improvement to both your mental and physical health. Gyms are also a great way
for millennial to meet new people, and as important as it is to work on your
regime, you should take it easy and socialize a bit as well.
Want to be the star of the show? Dish out great recipes
to fellow fitness enthusiasts and indulge in smoothies and fruit salads
together before and after a workout. If you sign up for a group session, let
the others know that you're bringing home made yummies for the whole squad next
time!
Shop Your Way to
Happiness
Shopping is the best way to reward yourself. Take one whole day
to make a true shopping
experience. Involve a couple of your friends and head into all the
malls, vintage shops, consignment stores and, why not, even flea markets.
Don’t forget to make occasional stops for coffee and gossips.
After you’ve reached two full bags, your therapy is officially pronounced a
success.
Go Someplace
No matter where you decide to go, it should be a place where
you’ve never been before. It doesn’t even have to be an expensive travel. You
can just pack your backpack and go hiking on the nearest hill. Camping by the
river sounds like a good idea too.
Once a year, make it a big unforgettable destination. Paris?
London? Athens? Marrakesh? Wherever you want to go. Make it a tradition. Try
traveling alone, it can be a truly amazing experience.
I always lean towards foods as a reward and that's totally a habit that I'm trying to break! These are some good alternatives!
