First Frost

When I was at the beach back in August I read my first Sarah Addison Allen book and have pretty much been obsessed with her literary work ever since. First Frost is my fifth book by Allen I have read and I have loved all her books so far! The element of magic that she always seems to work into all of her books coupled with her story telling abilities makes her book the perfect fun read when you need to escape reality and add a little magic to your life.

October has descended upon Bascom, North Carolina, and autumn for the Waverleys will not came to a peaceful place till their mischievous apple tree starts to bloom and first frost arrives. Claire Waverley has started a successful candy venture. Through here handcrafter confections and old family recipes she is able to make candies to help people recall their first love, bring them happiness, and soothe sore throats. Although Claire’s business is successful it is robbing her of her happiness by keeping her from her family and the cooking she really loves.

Sydney, Claire’s sister, is also restless. With each day that passes she longs more and more for a baby – a namesake for her husband Harry. Sydney’s daughter, Bay, loses her heart to the boy she knows it belongs to, if only he could realize what she does,
