Summer Reading List

I will confess I am a little nerdy… When I was in school I actually enjoyed summer reading, I just didn’t enjoy the required school summer reading. Every season is a good season to read a book, but summer just wouldn’t quite feel like summer without sitting poolside/beach side/lake side with a book in hand. Is there really any better way to pass a lazy summer day than soaking up the sun, enjoying an ice-cold coke, and reading a book. Since summer is basically the officially book reading season below are a few book recommendations for summer reading.
Luckiest Girl Alive is supposedly one of Reese Witherspoon’s favorite reads and has been compared to Gone Girl.  Ani suffered from a shocking humiliation when she was in school, which left her desperate to reinvent herself. Now, with a blue blood fiancĂ©, new wardrobe, and glamorous job she is extremely close to living to perfect life she has dreamed of. Ani has a secret buried deep in the past that threatens to boil to the surface and ruin everything she has worked so hard for.
Theodore Finch is enamored with death, and is constantly thinking of ways to kill himself, but fortunately, each time something good stops him, no matter how small it may be. Violet lives for the future and is counting down the days to graduation when she can escape her hometown. When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it is unclear who saves who.
I am currently reading this booking and am just a little over the halfway point. If you enjoyed The Cuckoo’s Calling you will definitely enjoy the follow up novel as well. I will warn you that you have to be in the right frame of mind to read this book and some parts of the book are a little bit more descriptive than The Cuckoo’s Calling is.
Lisbeth, a Jersey girl who works at a diner, dreams of a glamorous life in NYC, a dream inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Lisabeth life takes an exciting turn one night when her friend who works at the Met gives Lisabeth the chance to try on the famous Givenchy dress worn by Hepburn. Lisbeth world is flipped when Manhattan’s elite mistakes her for their own at the Met Gala.

A debut novel that delivers the message that in the end ultimately love is what gives us a place in the world
I am currently reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by the same author. I know it is a book that has been “tending”, but I waited so long to pick up a copy because it seemed a little young… I wish I would have given into the hype a little sooner; it is a fun read, perfect for summer, and I cannot wait to see what the author has come up with for the second book.
I bought this book a few summers back when I was at the beach, I am ashamed to say I bought the book based purely on the cover, but it paid off! It is one of my favorite books and a fascinating read. Dean Faulkner Wells is the niece of William Faulkner. In this book she recounts stories of the Faulkner family.
I have been meaning to pick up this book for the longest time and have heard such wonderful things about it, so naturally I thought it only right to include it on this summer reading list. This story is through the eyes of a young Jewish girl growing up in Boston. Addie was born in 1990 to immigrant parents who were unprepared for America and the effects it would have on their daughter. At the age of 85 Addie tells the story of her life to her 22 year old grand daughter who wants to know how her grandmother became the person she is.
A book about a southern belle that involves a fun supernatural twist
When I read this book I literally could not put it down. This is honestly the best autobiography I have ever read {and incase you are wondering I read a lot of autobiographies and memoirs}. Katharine Hepburn was so ahead of her time, lived such and interesting life, it was just destined to be a great book. Read it, you will not be sorry.
