Beach Bag Essentials

The beach is hands down my favorite place to be, after all there is nothing some salt water and sea air can’t heal.  Whenever I’m on vacation and venture down to the beach to relax in a chair, read a book, and listen to the sound of the ocean, five minutes into relaxing I realize something I forgot. I wish I was one of those people who only got tan and never burned so I wouldn’t have to remember so many items to take with me, but on the other hand I feel like I am “one of those people” who looks better sans tan; during the summer I tend to shy away from red and hot pink dress, they always make my face look red, so I definitely need sun protection along with a few other things. Without further adieu below is a list of my must-have beach essentials.

1.               The Beach Bag – it probably goes without saying but everyone should have a somewhat large carryall to put everything you will need for a day at the beach in! My personal favorite tote to take to the beach is a Lilly Pulitzer tote, I am just always such a sucker for their prints.
2.             Beach Towel – I feel safe in saying that no one wants to lay down on sand or even sit in a beach chair without a super soft beach towel… all the better to relax!
3.             Sunglasses – In my opinion sunglasses are a requirement for basically any outdoor activity, especially the beach where the sun is reflecting off the water and the sand. I will forever be a Ray-Ban girl when it comes to sunglasses at the beach, but I am loving the sunglasses Kate Spade and Anthropologie have this season.
4.             Water Bottle – It is so important to stay hydrated on a hot summer day. Now my favorite water bottle of all time is Lifefactory water bottles, but unfortunately the Lifefactory water bottles tend to sweat so I usually opt for a TervisTumbler or a Lilly Tumbler when it comes to beach time
5.             Sunscreen – fact: there is not such thing as too much sunscreen when it comes to the sun and me. The first few days at the beach I usually us 70SPF then after that I get crazy I go with the 50SPF.
6.             Hat – it is a good thing to have in your bag just in case your part start to get a sunburn {that is the worst} or if your face is in need of a little extra protection from the sun
7.              Book – is there anything better than reading a book by the ocean with a drink in hand?
8.             Lip Balm with SPF – No one wants to have sunburned lips
9.             Water proof phone case – So many things can happen to a phone at the beach, you definitely want to have some way to protect it
10.           Leave-in-conditioner – This will prevent your hair from getting sun-damaged and will keep it nice and hydrated

  3. The beach is my favorite place to be too! I usually bring most of this stuff, especially the sunscreen! I also take a frisbee or football to toss around... Sometimes I find it difficult to just sit still on the beach!

    1. I wish I lived close enough to the beach where I needed to keep a beach bag in my car just in case I was in the mood to go! That would be great! Hope you are having a great weekend, Alex!
