Starry Dreams

FOR MY PART I KNOW
NOTHING WITH ANY
CERTAINTY, BUT THE
SIGHT OF THE STARS
MAKES ME DREAM
~VINCENT VAN GOGH

Put A Bow On It

In the South there are two things a Southern girl just absolutely loves, lace and bows! I love how bows can look elegant on an evening gown, fashionable on a dress, chic on a silk shirt, and fun on a bikini. Here are a few of my favorite items that have a bow on it! Click on the name of the item for the link.

Bright Lights & Starry Nights

Life is constantly moving and propelling us forward, rather we are ready or not. It’s an ongoing ride that we can’t step off of, even for a second. Life is what you make of it; it is made of memories and experiences, the good and the bad. Those unforgettable moments, the people who helped you along the way, and the experiences are what we tend to hold onto the most. So even on those days when you are feeling discouraged and wish you could step off the ride for a few seconds, remember that you are never truly alone and always keep the people who love you close and hold onto the good memories.
“In one of the stars
I shall be living
In one of them
I shall be laughing
And so it will be
as if all the stars
were laughing
when you look
at the sky at night”
~ The Little Prince

Jump Back Jack

You know you’ve seen a true Southern Preppy when you spy one wearing a pair of Jack Rogers Sandals. In the South Jack Rogers are like the official sandal of summer:
1.    Which shoes should I wear to the wedding? Jack Rogers
2.   Which shoes should I wear to dinner? Jack Rogers?
3.   Which shoes should I wear to the pool? An old pair of Jack Rogers
As you have probably gathered Jack Rodgers are acceptable to wear for almost any occasion. So if you don’t have a pair of Jack Rogers Sandals… Well jump back Jack go buy yourself a pair! They are a Southern staple that will be in style for years to come! Here are a few of my favorite Jack Rogers, click on the name of the shoe for the link.

Dream The Dream

NEVER GIVE UP
ON A DREAM
JUST BECAUSE OF THE TIME
IT WILL TAKE
TO ACCOMPLISH IT.
THE TIME WILL PASS
ANYWAY.
~ EARL NIGHTINGALE

Time comes and goes, never be afraid to dream a little bigger. Dreams are what people are made of; it’s what every county was built on and the cause for continual growth and progress in society. Dreams carry us through our day to day the life, they give us hope for something more, pushes us to try harder, and has the possibility to lead us to a truly fulfilling life. So never give up on a dream because at times it may seem impossible, or take up too much time, etc. Everything that is truly great in life wasn’t achieved because it was easy, everything requires a certain amount of work and hardship and in the end it was all worth it.

Shake It Up

Down South it can be just down right hot and some day you just need to shake it up a bit! In my opinion a milkshake is the best possible way to shake things up and feel refreshed! One of the great things about a milkshake is you can justify drinking one morning, noon, or night; after all they have milk in them, that’s healthy, right… The best milkshake recipe I have come across is Paula Deen’s Vanilla Milkshake, I have to give it to her she knows how to do good old fashion Southern cooking and treats! Here is the recipe for a great vanilla milkshake you are sure to enjoy!

Paula Deen’s Vanilla Milkshake Recipe

4 cups quality vanilla ice cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
8 tablespoons sugar
2 cups milk, less for thicker milkshakes

Using a blender or milkshake machine, blend all ingredients together until smooth. Serve in tall glasses with a straw.

For The Love Of Books

During summertime in the South one of my favorite things to do is sit by the pool or preferably an ocean and read a book. I have always been an avid reader and a lover of books. I believe one’s choice of books and taste in literature helps to form who you are as a person; each book becoming a piece of you. For me, when I open a book it is an escape from reality, a book is the least expensive vacation a person can take. Stephen King is extremely accurate when he said, “books are a uniquely portable magic”. So this summer sit on your porch or by the pool with a tall glass of Southern sweet tea and get lost in a book.
