2021 Goals

Happy New Year to all! I took the week between Christmas and New Years off from blogging to decompress, take a deep breath, and just to enjoy the holidays. I don’t know about you all, but I am glad that 2020 has reached an end!

To be one hundred percent honest, I am usually one of those people who thinks that New Year’s Eve is a little overrated…I mean, honestly, does a day really make that big of a difference? However, 2020 has made me a convert. There has been so much that has happened all in a single year, it is nice to have a definite line between an ending and a beginning. Going forward, I think I will always have a newfound appreciation for New Year’s Eve.

I feel like the overarching theme of 2020 was strength, adaptability, grace, and resilience. On a personally level, 2020 started out with me doing the hardest thing I hope I will ever have to do, and ended with me feeling like I was crawling towards the proverbial finish line. In between we learned how to adjust and adapt, and with all the ups and downs, there were definitely blessings and special moments that gave us momentum to move forward. 2020 showed us how remarkable the human spirit is and gave us plenty of time for reflection {saving a 2020 reflection for a separate post}, but for now here are my goals for 2021!

Read 100 Books// This past year I didn’t really start reading till about halfway through the year, and I was able to read/listen forty-seven books in total for 2020. For some reason I was so against audiobooks for the longest time, but with all the walks I started taking in 2020 I decided to give them a try and I love them now! Tom Hanks narrating The Dutch House was absolutely amazing. Whenever I go on a walk now, if I’m by myself, nine times out of ten I’ll choose to listen to an audiobook over music, and it’s so much more relaxing and fulfilling, as weird as that sounds. In 2020 I listened to 17 books and read 30 physical books. So, I figure in 2021 between reading and listening to books I should reach, or at least land pretty close to my goal of 100 books for the year.

Learn How To Use Reels on Instagram// Is anyone else slightly intimated by Instagram’s Reels feature? I am, but I feel like my Instagram is lacking without utilizing that feature. If you have any tips on how to use reels or know of any great how-to YouTube videos, please leave a link in the comments or email me!

Stay Caught Up on E-mails// speaking of emails… I consistently got so behind on emails in 2020. So many days just honestly felt like a mental hurdle and they would just slip by so quickly, along with my motivation to answer emails, which only made me more stressed. So, this year, definitely staying on top f emails, no matter what the day brings!

Better Sleeping Habits// I am somewhat of a night owl anyways, but the anxiety that came with 2020 and change of pace would only increase that from time to time.

Finish Writing A Book// Towards the end of 2020 I started writing a book, and I am actually really excited because this is something I have been wanting to do for years! For this year I hope to finish it by the end of the year or sooner.

Meet Someone Really Nice// I feel like this one is more of a wish than a goal, but I figure writing it down will maybe help to materialize this hope. For the past few years I was with someone and so extremely close to ‘the’ happy ending, but it was like everything just started to fall apart, change, and go wrong, and all I can really say about it is that it was an odd and disappointing situation that just wasn’t meant to be. For as long as I can remember all I have wanted is to be a wife and a mother, so at the risk of sounding like Miracle on 34th Street’s Susan, who just wanted a dad and a brother, I hope someone who is really nice and just fits comes across my path soon.

Workout// Working out was a lifesaver in 2020 and something I definitely want to keep up.

Daily Devotionals// I know some of that some of the same challenges that existed in 2020 will continue to exist in 2021. I’ve been working on being mentally and physically healthier, and it seems like spiritual health would be a good thing to work on as well, and would arch back to mental health. I have heard that One Thousand Gifts Devotional is good – let me know if you all have any other suggestions!

Drink More Water// I think this will always be a goal of mine. There are just so many benefits to drinking water – better mood, memory, sleep pattern, and it is great for your skin!

Blog// In 2019 and in 2020 I definitely did not blog as much as I would have liked or as much as I should, so for 2021 I am aiming to write at least one blog post a day
