Gallery Wall Inspiration

A few years ago when the gallery wall first started to become popular I wasn’t sure if I liked the design trend, but once I saw some beautifully done gallery walls I fell in love with the concept. I have to say, I adore the above gallery wall, a picture from Kate Spade’s apartment. It seems that the trick to a gallery wall is to create a natural flow {having a theme, the same color frame for all the pictures, or just a very well planned gallery wall layout, etc.} there are a good amount of ways to create a beautiful gallery wall. I like how a gallery wall can totally transform the room, add an artistic element, and supposedly gallery walls have a therapeutic effect that is supposed to relax and comfort you.
I found this gallery wall from This is Glamorous blog. The gold frames used on this gallery wall for each pictures gives an overall cohesive effect. Before placing pictures on the wall, first you might want to lay out your framed work on the floor and try out a few designs, to correctly identify the right design for the wall and you.
When hanging pictures keep in mind that smaller frames have more impact when hung together but larger frames can stand on its own. Eye movement is important when it comes to a gallery wall. You don’t want your eye to stop in one area of the gallery wall, but to keep flowing across.
Changing your favorite photograph from color to black and white will create an interesting gallery effect.
Choose pictures you love. Make sure you don’t get caught up in trying to make it look like someone else’s’ gallery wall; this wall should reflect your taste and interest. You can include original are, art prints, mix up art from the low and high price range, family photos, and so on.
